So for the fans of New Super Luigi U out there I made this texture mod replacing the NSMBU overworld theme. This is what it looks like on CEMU but I also tested it on Wii U and it works great: This is my first mod and I put a lot of effort into it so I hope you'll all enjoy it. It also perfectly goes with the original background of the game so that's good. Features: -new ground tileset -one new semi-solid -new bridge -invisible tracks (I just think they're cool) Download Wii U (updated): http://www.mediafire.com/file/7vb86idu4788vqf/WU_Field_plain.szs Put this file in your content>model folder of the game. Issues: -None that I know of Credits to: -AboodXD for the Miyamoto object folder -Zachabossaloler for his custom theme tutorial |

Nice tileset! But quick question: What CEMU version do you have? And what's your Graphics card?
|
Lakifume Posted on 12-17-17, 08:43 pm
Mine says CEMU 1.11.1. What do you mean by a Graphics Card ?
|
NightYoshi370 Posted on 12-17-17, 08:46 pm
By graphics card, I mean either "Intel" "NVIDIA" or "AMD"
Try 1.11.2. on your current screenshot, I notice a lighting issue. |
Lakifume Posted on 12-17-17, 08:49 pm
Okay, it's Intel GPU I think. There is a 1.11.2 version ? I thought I had the most recent one.

Intel GPU works? Wow. I better tell Tarnadas (owner of SMMDB) about this.
Yes, there is a 1.11.2 released last week. |

Oh, and BTW, some critisizm on the actual theme:
I think you should try to atleast make a semi-solid that doesn't look almost identical to the ground. |
Lakifume Posted on 12-18-17, 03:00 am
Yeah, I know. I left it like that because it reminded me of those huge flowery bushes in NSLU:

This is one of the few NSMBU mods, and it's one of the only good ones! Great job on porting the tileset, looks better than the original!

Thank you. I'm thinking of making more NSMBU mods but smaller ones like recoloring pipes, change semi-solids and platforms to make it look more like the actual game.
It's also hard to make good mods for this style since we can't really change the backgrounds. |
GRAnimated Posted on 12-18-17, 03:20 am
can't wait to see how they'll look if you do that!

Woah, this is awesome! It's rare to see a good NSMBU mod for SMM, so I'm glad that this theme is.

If you are willing to make NSMBU theme mods, I can happily publish my tools which can make and remove padding for you.
|
Lakifume Posted on 12-18-17, 01:32 pm
What do you mean by make and remove padding ?
|
NightYoshi370 Posted on 12-18-17, 06:14 pm
In the WiiU SMM, the NSMBU theme blocks is actually 60x60. With padding (meaning empty space just to give a tile border), it turns into 64x64 per block.

Oh yeah, I noticed that when I edited the tileset. So when I imported the NSMBU tiles in SMM I stretched them by 2 pixels on each side to make sure they wouldn't get cut in the game.

That's what "adding padding" is.I found it too bothersome to do by hand so I wrote a script to add padding automatically if I give it a 960x1020 image. (Same as original image (1024x1088) but with padding removed) |
Lakifume Posted on 12-19-17, 02:18 am
Sounds awesome! Yeah, it would definetly make it easier.
BTW, do you know where I could find NSMBU sprites? I can't find a sprite sheet on the Internet. |
MasterVermilli0n Posted on 12-19-17, 02:19 am
NSMBU uses 3D models for enemies.
|
Lakifume Posted on 12-19-17, 02:32 am
Oh I forgot about that. It's also one of the reasons why Miyamoto level editor is better than SMM.
|
NightYoshi370 Posted on 12-24-17, 03:18 pm
Uh, don't you mean "NSMBU" is better than SMM? Miiyamoto can't control how the sprites look in game, whether their 2d images or 3D models.
|
Lakifume Posted on 12-24-17, 03:38 pm
Yeah, that's what I meant, the real NSMBU editor.
