So I noticed that the NSMB themes always used the normal backgrounds, and after looking at Samplasion's NSMB SNow Mod, I get why. It's a lot more complex.

Anyways I decided to try it anyways, just to see if I could. And ended up with this. A bit rough but a lot more immersive:

Nice ! Is it easier to change the background on 3DS than on Wii U ?

I have no idea how doing it on the WiiU works but one major advantage of this is that the screen is smaller so things can afford to look rough, on the big screen this would probably need a lot of new sprites.

Actually, on the 3ds, the background is just layered sprites. On the wii u, it's fully modeled

Is anyone on this site able to fully change a NSMBU background on Wii U or is it too hard for now ?

I actually have changed the background once, but that was when I replaced the airship theme with the SMM ground theme in Wexos Toolbox. I'm still trying to figure out how to port a background from NSMBU, as all my attempts so far lead to crashes. But it's probably still possible, I just haven't bothered to look into it more.

Wow, this looks cool! I like how it gives an entirely new atmosphere.

Replacing backgrounds is kinda hard for beginners, but somewhat easy for people who have used Wexos's Toolbox to import models before.

I was importing NSMBU Overworld BG to SMM, but then I stopped for a reason that I don't remember now. I might get back to it one day.

Do you think you could import this background in the NSMBU castle theme ?

Because I could import the tileset that goes with it to make a new mod.

On the 3ds it'd be easier

Why not try making the clouds look a bit more green, so it gives more of a sandy feel?
Sm-ArtThings Posted on 01-17-18, 05:32 am
I wanted to do that, but rather than extracting the files myself I'm really just working with what I found in another mod, and I didnt see any clouds to edit.
NightYoshi370 Posted on 01-17-18, 05:37 am
Oh.

If you want, I can extract the clouds for you.
Sm-ArtThings Posted on 01-17-18, 05:56 am
That would certainly be good, thanks.
