Cool idea ! Obviously you will need to check the style and design to fit it in ;)

Btw, it's 78. And it's time to choose the world themes guys !

I was thinking each level would have it's own theme. It make it easier and more appealing to designing levels

My thoughts were we could split it into 8 sections (for the sake of world map music) with three planets per section. And a varying amount of levels per planet.

That's quite ambitious, though. Just a suggestion.

(8 * 3 * 3ish = 72ish)

Please note that each world in Newer can only have 2 subsections, so two planets would have the same name. We can also use world names A to Z, so numbers are not needed.

Hang on, this confuses me. I was thinking:

(3 planets, same world map music but different level types with a castle at the end) * 8.

Similar to Wayro, I was thinking each level had it's own theme. Not each world.
Each world (planet) can be, I don't know, Mario Galaxy, Starry Skies, it really doesn't matter.
I'm just worried about the music for each world.

Oh yeah, what are music slots like?

Certain themes could share songs if we're limited. For example, songs like Ice Cream City could fit a food level and an ice level.

Well, some songs from NSMBW are untouched. For example, the lava theme, Bowser's 2nd Boss Battle Theme, the snow theme, the beach theme, and the castle theme are the same. There are some other songs untouched. I don't have a full list, though.

Basically any song that isn't in the Stream folder from Vanilla NewerSMBW. :)

You can replace the Newer SMBWii Music too (the .er files)

You can, but it'd be best to start with the untouched music. I'm not sure how to even loop the music properly.
Besides. Newer's sound track is lit...

On a side note, how does the Worldmap theme work? Is each world map song it's own file?

Actually it's easy. You create a brstm, like everytime. Put it in a hex editor and rename the end of the file from ".brstm" to ".er". Then it should work.

Not only that. All the sounds must have the same exact duration or it will sound distorted in-game. Also, they all need to be 4-Channel and one of the slots has the common sound. To make all the map tracks have a different duration (they still must last the same), you need to edit MapADPCM.bin in /NewerRes with the ADPCMInfoGen script.

Sounds cancerous. Hopefully there is a program out there to make that easier...

Sadly, nope. This is an hardcoded mechanism, we can only try our best.I also remember about Python trying with Newer Apocalypse and failing many times.

Btw, any ideas for the planets we are going to make ?

Wrong. Theres a script on Zement's Google Drive that can replace map music properly

I used it in NFFN and never encountered any glitches with it

Mind telling us what said script is called so we can find and use it ourselves?
