If you're asking what Super Mario Maker is, well Super Mario Maker is a game by where you can create your own levels.
If you're saying that you are hacking Super Mario Maker, which version? Keep in mind that there's 2 versions of Super Mario Maker, and both have very different ways in rendering the NSMBU style's background.

Anyways, erm, this post just inspired me to make a new thread.

So here we are, 2.5 years after Super Mario Maker for Wii U was announced. Lots of stuff has changed since its release, like all the new features, new updates and it even got a 3DS port. However, all of that went to waste, when Nintendo announced that the Wii U is dead, and Miiverse was shut down. and with the recent activity that both [NSMBW hacking](https://horizonwii.net/) and [NSMBU hacking](https://discord.gg/3FZKuDv) are getting alot more active, I've wondered who here actually hacks it.

For me, I hack it alot more than actually play it. When I do play it, I like to make levels that are more fun, casual and creative oriented than actual serious levels. I might make a new level soon, but I still do have the contest levels to play. Also, um, I do still hack it. In fact, I have 2 unreleased themes to release.

Hey! Now that we're able to put a background in the castle theme, can you update this to accommodate that change?

So basically, I have made a new site layout for all of us to enjoy! It is called "Modern Mario Making Mods Layout", and it's accessible by going to Edit Profile -> Site Layout, and I do think it takes a much more modern take on the site layout. It makes it so that way the header always sticks to the top but the logo is just the text, without the mario's. This layout was suggested by tee, so huge shout-out to him. But as I started using it more and more, I've really started to dislike the old one, with that huge bulky logo. In fact, in our Github code, the old Default Layout isn't even a thing. In the new version of this board (and the current one), this is causing some serious bugs. So I'm wanting to hear your opinions: Should we get rid of the old one, or add it as another option (like it is now)?

Also, if you want to have a different site layout, please specify in the thread below! We'd love to see your ideas and suggestions on what layout you'd like to see. Thank you for your feedback, and I hope we can make the site easier for you. Bye!

One thing that I like is the way that it had a world style similar to both Super Mario World and New Super Mario Bros U. Instead of having generic camera locks, it's actually just one big open world, and that's a huge thing that I am really interested in. I do wish that the same mindset was incorporated into a level, but Super Mario: Endless Earth seems to do just that, so I'll be looking forward to that. I also like how nice the developers were and made it easier for hackers to hack NSMBW. Take for example, the world map.

In the original game, you had a 3D engine, and it was confusing as hell to design maps for it. The only world which would take model imports was World 9, and that's because it wasn't as complex as the other worlds. Even then, the only hack which took advantage of that was Newer Summer Sun, but that was just a rotating coin model, and only had one stage.
In Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii, however, they introduced a new 2D engine made entirely from scratch. For some reason, all the 3D modelers on the team quit, and this was their last option, but I'm glad they took this route. Sure, it may not look as good as if it were in 3D, but it can surely help those who want to mod the game.

Though, they have made some things that I do wish didn't happen, like ruining translation support for Newer. Thankfully, there was a dedicated team made to translate the game to other languages, and I was even in the team too. But sadly, the team died when RVLution (the main forum for hacking NSMBW) has died. Hopefully they can make a return on [HorizonWii](https://horizonwii.net), but that's one of those things we can only hope. It would have been nice to play the game in my native Canadian language (French), but I guess I'll be using my secondary language. Oh well.

The new themes, though, are extremely creative. I never saw a Japanese town in a Super Mario game, and neither have I seen a bomber land world. Speaking off bombs and attacks, I do extremely appreciate the fact that the hammer suit has been ported over from Super Mario Bros. 3, but I unfortunately got spoiled with Newer DS's version of the game, which combines it with the shell suit. I do wish that in the Deluxe version that will be released soon, they could port the Newer DS version of the powerup.

Overall, I do think that the game **shines** in creativity, and that's what I adore. I might do a full review soon, but I need to find a way to actually play Newer Wii again, because my PC is currently broken and I don't exactly use my wii that much

I mean, wouldn't the mobile layout cover for this? Although, if you really don't want it to be the mobile layout, I'll add a seperate one, like the original version of this board (I think Abood remembers it well enough to give critisizm, I completely forgot what the layout looked like).

Secondly, for our modern layout, I think we should change up the postbox. Currently, its very bloated, and for small/short posts, it can take up a lot of space. It's also filed with info people don't even need. So I'm suggesting a post layout style like GBATemp.
