A Sonic fangame by the name of "Sonic Gather Battle" is not safe to download.
It has a malicious DRM that actives when the player tries to hack/cheat the fangame.
This malicious DRM could give the creator of this fangame access to information on your computer.
Things like your passwords, credit card information, etc.

Unfortunately, if you have downloaded and played this fangame, the creator has your IP and possibly more of your information.

I advise everyone to not download this fangame or else some of your information could be in the hands of others.

It seems that the reason for making his game like this is.. because the creator doesn't want people to take his sprites.

You forgot to mention the part where once the DRM starts, you have to personally talk to him that you're not a hacker or a thief, and THEN he'll whitelist your PC if he wants to.

Who does he thinks he is?

Right now, I have boot9strap with Luma 8.0 as my CFW. Though, I'd like to see other CFW's for B9S.

The creator won't have your IP and information unless you activated one of the DRMs.
Funnily enough, all the sprites were eventually leaked anyway. :p

While I do think he deserves it, we should still respect his intentions and not leak it.

Update on the situation

While I never thought I would have come back to this thread to post an update, I did, cause something caught my eye.

The games DRM was added in December 4th 2017, right? Well, you're wrong.


If you didn't notice, this video was uploaded on November 10th 2017, meaning the DRM existed long before the December 4th update.

Additionally, the game has been reactivated after an update on December 14th and a download link can be found in the spoiler below.


gosh, typing all this on a phone is hard. Oh well.

 		Yet another reason why DRM can go throw itself under a bus.

DRM is seriously anti-consumer and only benefits spying companies and such, and pirates ALWAYS find a way around it so it's not like they're trying to copy prevention anymore.
