Also please change the second semi-solid. Newer imports don't look right in NSMBU.

You can just put the wooden semi-solid from the original tileset. It would look much better.

Does SMB1 still softlock ? Because if you find a way to avoid that issue could you please make a detailed tutorial.

I just realised something, if you add a background into the game you also need to add the corresponding preview background if you do not want the game to crash when saving a level.

For two checkpoints you can look at level 7-37 and see how Nintendo did it, for more I don't think you can.

The magikoopa magic a a sprite for each color only, the game will always make it rotate.

It'll work but the sprite will constantly wobble.

Most of those are possible, although I'm not sure about the power meter sprite and sound.

Yeah those are good ideas, although the skewer might be trickier as the Wario hand has a width of 2 blocks opposed to the SMM skewer with a width of 4 blocks.

That's weird, when I edited some of NSMBU Yoshi and Bowser skin I used the same process as other sprites and it worked, only issue was mipmaps replacements. Is this a background texture ?

I don't know how to help you then, when I edited the NSMBU Yoshi and Yoshi egg to change its color everything went according to plan. Although I know that even Abood had issues with Mario's fire and Propeller skin, maybe it is related to your problem ?

How did you successfully replace NSMBU tileset by 16 bit ones ? I tried and it looks weird for some reason.
